Women's Swimming And Diving Tops Coast Guard And WPI In Dual Meet Action

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College Friars women’s swimming and diving team defeated the Coast Guard Academy Bears and the Worcester Polytechnic Engineers in Providence, R.I. on Nov. 13, racking up nine total first place finishes. The Friars topped the Bears, 197-99 and the Engineers, 195-101.

Sophomore Katherine Fallon (Warren, N.J.) took first place in the 200m freestyle (2:07.78) and the 400m freestyle (4:33.51). Freshman Abby Czerniecki (Haddonfield, N.J.) had two first place finishes as well. Czerniecki won the 100m breaststroke (1:17.11) and the 200m breaststroke (2:51.61).

Freshman Paige DeLago (Norwalk, Conn.), Juliet McGlaughlin (West Chester, Pa.), and Kaylie O’Connell (Stoneham, Mass.) each had a first place finish. DeLago took 100m backstroke (1:08.68), McGlaughlin took the 200m backstroke (2:28.7) and O’Connell took the 200m IM. Additionally, junior Kelly Quinn (Garden City, N.Y.) took first in the in the 50m freestyle (27.45).

The 200m medley relay team comprised of Reilly O’Connell (West Barnstable, Mass.), Czerniecki, Hayley McClure (West Hartford, Conn.) and Quinn also finished in first place.

The women’s swimming and diving team returns to the pool on Friday, Nov. 20 at the Harold Anderson Invitational in Kingston, R.I. at 5:00 p.m. ET.
