NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -

The Providence College men's and women's swimming and diving teams travelled to the Hynes Athletic Center in New Rochelle, N.Y. on Nov. 12 to take on the Gaels from Iona College. The Friars posted a victory on the women’s side while facing a defeat on the men’s side, 164-116 and 160-88, respectively.

Junior Katherine Fallon (Warren, N.J.) notched 3 victories in her 27-point performance. Fallon was first to the wall in the 100-yard freestyle (54.65), the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.25), and the 500-yard freestyle (5:14.26).

Sophomore Abigail Czerniecki (Haddonfield, N.J.) kicked of the meet with a first place finish in the 200-yard medley, teaming with Helen Smith (Belmont, Mass.), Hayley McClure (West Hartford, Conn.), and Kelly Quinn (Garden City, N.Y.). Czerniecki also earned first place in the 100-yard breast stroke with a time of 1:09.92. She returned to the pool to bring in another first place finish, this time in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:34.99).

On the diving board, senior Sarah Burrous (Methuen, Mass.) took first in both 1 meter diving events (149,85, 136.05)

The men’s side struggled on the scoreboard, but that did not stop senior Ryan Trammell from posting an impressive 1:01.20 in the 100-yard breast stroke, enough for first place in the event.

The Providence College Friars return to the pool in Kingston, R.I. on Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday, Nov. 19 in the Harold Anderson Invitational. This will be the last meet for the Friars before the break for the remainder of 2016 and begin the second half of their season in January 2017.
