The Providence College Swimming & Diving teams traveled to Montclair, N.J. on Saturday November 10 to take on Montclair State. For the women's team, the meet proved to be a successful one, marking their first win on the season, beating the Red Hawks 138-101. The men, however, dropped a 133-108 decision, falling to 0-5 on the year.

The victory was a solid team effort by the Friars, as a number of different swimmers won numerous events. Providence started off strong by winning the day's first event, and finished just as solid, capturing the final five events including top spots in all four diving events. Some notables were freshman Courtney Larcom (Morristown, N.J.) who took the day's first individual event, the 1,000-yard freestyle, with a time of 11:08.16, and junior Blair Flynn (Middletown, R.I.) who won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:17.66, beating out her closest competitor by nearly seven seconds.

On the men's side, freshman Jordan Emerick (Southington, Conn.) had yet another strong performance, winning both diving events in which he competed. In the 1-meter diving, Emerick scored a 149.80 during the first set, and a 191.55 in the second.

After an event-packed two weeks, the Friars are off until November 30 where they will compete at the Harold Anderson Invitational in Kingston, R.I. Competition is being held on Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1. Friday's meet is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m., and Saturday's is set for a 10:30 a.m. start.
