Swimming And Diving Defeated By Seton Hall

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College swimming and diving teams hosted Seton Hall on Saturday Oct. 31. The Friar men and women were defeated by scores of 183-92 and 177-104, respectively.

Sophomore Katherine Fallon (Warren, N.J.) took first place in all three of her individual events. Fallon finished the 200-meter freestyle in 2:08.82, the 400-meter freestyle in 4:34.16, and the 800-meter freestyle in 9:25.66. The sophomore also anchored the Friars second place 200-meter freestyle relay (1:53.09) with teammates Kelly Quinn (Garden City, N.Y.), Sophia Forneris (New York, N.Y.), and Reilly O'Connell (West Barnstable, Mass.).

Second place finishes for the Friars included Mackenzie Coughlin (Darien, Conn.) in the 200-meter butterfly (2:28.73), Forneris in the 100-meter freestyle (1:01.42), and Kaylie O'Connell (Stoneham, Mass.) in the 400-meter freestyle (4:38.52).

Junior Zachary Begnaud (Natchitoches, La.) led the way for the men’s side. Begnaud placed first in the 400-meter freestyle (4:14.80) and the 200-meter IM (2:15.76).

Freshman Jerod Magazine (Coto De Caza, Calif.) took first in the 800-meter freestyle (8:46.04). The 200-meter freestyle relay team of Jonny Mariner (Marion, Mass.), George Thompson (Island Heights, N.J.), Nick Teri (Garden City, N.Y.), and Charlie Sabaitis (Spring Lake, N.J.) finished first with a time of (1:43.18). Jonathan Batista (Southboro, Mass.) placed second in the 200-meter backstroke (2:11.18).

 

 

Sophomore Kendall Jerzyk (Madison, Conn.) placed first (236.32) and second (252.00) in the two rounds of 1-meter diving.

Providence heads to Indianapolis, Ind. to take on Butler University on Nov. 7 at 12:00 p.m. ET.
