Women's Swim Topped by Rhode Island

The Providence College Women’s Swim team traveled to Kingston, R.I. this afternoon to take on the interstate rivals, University of Rhode Island. This is always a fun meet for both sides, but the Rhody Rams came out on top today, with a score of 175-98.
While URI was very strong, the Friars freshman showed their speed in the freestyle. Lauren Zawacki earned nine points for Providence with a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (24.96). Abbie Bigham also brought home nine points, winning the 500-yard freestyle (5:19.58).
Providence took home maximum points in the 100-yard IM. Led by Junior Mackenzie Coughlin (1:04.22), the Friars swept the event. Juliet McGlaughlin (1:05.43) and Natalie Aquadra (1:06.05) were right behind Coughlin, combining for an additional seven points.
The men will rejoin the women in the pool tomorrow as Providence hosts their first home meet of the season at 1:00pm vs. Fairfield University.
