Swimming And Diving Best Two School Records On Day Three Of BIG EAST Championships

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. -

The Providence College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams continued into day three of the 2017 BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championships, presented by Jeep. The meet is being hosted at Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y. Both the men and the women remain in fifth place after the third day of action with 136 and 155 points, respectively.

Sophomore Ryan Trammell (Lake Mary, Fla.) set a new school mark in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching the wall at 56.67. With this time Trammell broke the previous record of 57.52 set by Dan Murphy in 2014


In the 100-yard backstroke sophomore Ricky Billig (Sudbury, Mass.) finished in 51.88, breaking Connor Lui’s record of 52.06 set in 2014.

Providence College will return to the pool tomorrow morning for the final day of action with Session 6 starting at 10 a.m., Session 7 at 3:15 p.m., and Session 8 at 6 p.m.

All Championship action will air live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FOX Sports Go, with wall-to-wall coverage that includes all event preliminaries, finals and awards. Jay Alter and John Fanta will be poolside for the finals reporting on the action.
