    SEWELL, N.J. - The Providence College men's and women's swimming and diving teams concluded competition at the BIG EAST Championships, hosted by Glouster County Institute of Technology in Sewell, N.J.

    On the women's side, senior Jill Mullany (Monroe, Conn.) earned sixth place in the 100y freestyle (51.79), while sophomore Reilly O'Connell (West Barnstable, Mass.) took 14th (53.83). Freshman Katherine Ainley (Rehoboth, Mass.) turned in a top time for the Friars in the 200y breaststroke and earned seventh place (2:25.30). Freshman Helen Smith (Belmont, Mass.) took tenth place in the 200y butterfly (2:08.54). Junior Kelly O'Neill (Rye, N.Y.) completed the 200y backstroke in 2:07.48 and took eleventh place.

    For the men, freshman Zachary Begnaud (Natchitoches, La.) earned ninth place with a time of 16:23.18. Junior John Fatigati (Mahwah, N.J.) took fifth place in the 200y backstroke touching the wall at 1:50.99. This time broke the school record set in 1997 by Jed Michnowicz by more than three seconds. Graduate student Kyle McLaughlin (Warrington, Pa.) competed in the 100y freestyle, finishing in 46.55 and taking eighth place. Senior Andrew St. Pierre (Fairhaven, Mass.) completed the 200y breaststroke in 2:09.19 and earned ninth place.
