Oct. 25, 2012

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – On Sunday, October 21, the Providence College Cheerleading Team volunteered at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. The walk took place at Rogers Williams Park in Providence, R.I. and had over 15,000 participants. The team spent the morning cheering on the walkers at both the start and finish lines. Many Providence College alumni participated in the walk and greatly appreciated the cheers.

The Making Strides events honors breast cancer survivors, brings awareness about breast cancer, and raises money for the American Cancer Society. Sunday’s walk raised over $900,000. Providence Mayor Angel Taveras was in attendance and addressed the crowd in support of the cause.

Come see the cheerleaders at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27 in Alumni Hall when they cheer for the men’s basketball team as they take on Assumption College.
