The Providence College Cheerleaders attended the UCA College Spirit Camp hosted by the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pa. on July 31- August 2. Alongside many great northeast cheerleading teams, and even a surprise appearance by an out of region University of Tennessee, they learned tips on how to better Game Day presentation, increase stunting skills, and most importantly build strong lasting relationships and bonds that will lead to a successful season and great memories!
The team worked hard, challenging themselves both mentally and physically. The coaching staff is honored to have seen some of the grit and character that was built during Camp.
During Final Day of camp, the teams competed in a Game Day Championship, which included various routine competitions. Providence finished in 2nd place in both the sideline and overall Game Day Competition and 1st place in the Fight Song Competition (using our Providence College "Saints" dance). The team was also awarded the most prestigious award at camp, Most Collegiate. This award is given to a team that represents what College Cheerleading should be. They look for teams with a professional and clean image, poise and confidence, uplifting and positive attitudes, and most importantly genuine love and support for their school and team. It is an honor to receive this award.
The camp was an amazing experience and a great way to kick off the season. The team is "Friared up" to return for preseason!
