NCAA Frozen Four Teams Set For ProvidenceBoston College, Maine, North Dakota and St. Lawrence to play for national championship.March 19, 2000 PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Boston College, Maine, North Dakota and St. Lawrence are the four teams that have advanced from the NCAA East and West Regionals and will compete in the NCAA Frozen Four at the Providence Civic Center on April 6 and 8 in Providen ce, R.I. North Dakota (29-8-5) will play Maine (27-7-5) in the first Semifinal on April 6 at 2:00 p.m. Boston College (28-11-1) will play St. Lawrence (27-7-2) in the second Semifinal on April 6 at 7:00 p.m. Both Semifinal games will be televised live on E SPN2. The winners of the Semifinals will meet in the NCAA Championship game on Saturday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. The Championship game will be televised live on ESPN. This year marks the first time these four teams have played together in the Frozen Four. It also marks the fifth time in the history of the men's hockey championship that three Eastern teams and one Western team have advanced. This year's Frozen Four will mark the seventh time the City of Providence has hosted the event and the sixth time the Civic Center has served as the site for the Frozen Four. Only Colorado Springs has hosted more Frozen Fours than the City of Provi dence. Providence first hosted the men's hockey championship in 1965 at Brown's Meehan Auditorium. The other five championships held in Providence took place at the Civic Center (1978, 1980, 1982, 1986 and 1995). |
