Providence College Student Athlete Advisory Council Holds Food Drive
Nov. 19, 2012
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College Student Athlete Advisory Council held a food drive at the men’s basketball game on Saturday, November 10 against NJIT. The food drive collected 1,166 pounds of non-perishable food items to benefit the Rhode Island Community Food Bank “Holiday Meal Drive.”
“We are incredibly thankful for the generosity of the community towards this great cause,” said Emilie Stehly, a member of the field hockey team and President of the Student Athlete Advisory Council. “We collected more than twice as much food as last year, which is a testament to our awesome fans and generous student-athletes.”
There will be another food drive held at Schneider Arena on Tuesday, November 20 as the men’s ice hockey team hosts Quinnipiac at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are still available.
The Rhode Island Community Food Bank “Holiday Food Drive” will continue throughout the holiday season. Donations can be made at the Rhode Island Community Food Bank or online at www.rifoodbank.org.
