PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On Oct. 7, more than 100 alumni and friends of the Friar basketball program came together to play in the Vision Cup Golf Tournament at historic Newport Country Club.

This marks the 5th Vision Cup Golf Tournament since its inception in 2011, and collectively the outings have raised more than $300,000 to support the men's basketball program.

The Vision Cups are sponsored by Sovereign Bank ǀ Santander and provide participants with the opportunity to meet Head Men's Basketball Coach Ed Cooley and play a nationally acclaimed golf course.

"The Vision Cup golf outings have become a signature event for our program. The support from these events is critical for our program to compete at the national level and I am extremely appreciative of everyone who came out to support the Friars yesterday" said Head Men's Basketball Coach, Ed Cooley.

The winning foursome from each Vision Cup is invited to travel on a private charter flight with the men's basketball team.

The next outing in the Vision Cup series will be held in spring of 2014. Please call 401-865-1090 for information on upcoming Vision Cups and other ways to support Friar basketball.
