    Oct. 5, 2012

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On Monday, October 1st the Athletic Department held its 3rd Vision Cup Golf Tournament at Newport Country Club. The sold out event raised more than $75,000 which will directly benefit the men's basketball program and specifically help to fund charter flights for the upcoming season. Participants had the opportunity to play golf with Head Coach Ed Cooley and members of the men's basketball staff as well as Head Men's Ice Hockey Coach Nate Leaman, and Women's Ice Hockey Coach Bob Deraney. The winning foursome from the outing will join the men's basketball team on their charter flight to Syracuse this season. In total, more than $200,000 has been raised from the three Vision Cup Golf Tournaments this year.

"The men's basketball Vision Cups have been a tremendous success for our program. Looking around the room on Monday, I saw many familiar faces but also had the opportunity to meet new supporters who are excited about the direction of our program. I am grateful for the generosity of everyone who played in our Newport Vision Cup as well as those who supported our previous outings at Wannamoisett (Rumford, RI) and the Stanwich Club (Greenwich, CT)", said Head Men's Basketball Coach Ed Cooley.

A full schedule of next year's Vision Cup Golf Tournaments will be released in the upcoming weeks.
