Former Women's Ice Hockey Goaltender Genevieve Lacasse '12 Competed At Canada's National Women's Team Fall Festival

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Former Friar great, Genevieve Lacasse '12 concluded play at the National Canadian Women's Hockey Team fall festival this past Saturday, September 22 held in Calgary, Alberta.
The festival provides the basis from which Team Canada will pick its team for the 4 Nations Cup in Finland this November. The camp hosted a wide variety of players ranging from seasoned veterans to girls coming out of the under-22 and under-18 teams.
At the camp, players were divided into teams for daily practices and games. There were two teams, white and red. They not only played each other but well-known local boys AAA midget teams. The festival lasted from, Saturday, September 22 to Saturday, September 29. Lacasse started her team out with a win over white (2-1) on Tuesday, September 25. She also led the team to a comeback victory over Midget AAA Calgary Northstars (4-3 OT) on Thursday, September 27.
Lacasse had a standout four-year career with the Friars and holds numerous school records. The four-year starter has the most career victories (64), career games played (127), career saves (3,482) and career shutouts (20). She also set Hockey East records for saves in a single tournament (127) and career tournament saves (276).
This season Lacasse returned to Providence College to work with the women's ice hockey team as a graduate assistant. She will be working with the Friar goaltenders as she studies for her masters in business administration. Lacasse will also be playing with in the CWHL with the Boston Blades as she continues to train for the Canadian National program.
