Providence College Associate Athletic Director Carl LaBranche To Be Inducted Into The RI Board #84 Hall Of Fame

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Rhode Island Basketball Officials Association and the IAABO Board #84, in conjunction with their annual banquet, will induct Providence College Associate Athletic Director Carl LaBranche into the RI Board #84 Hall of Fame at the Metacomet Country Club on Friday, March 16. LaBranche was a member of the High School Varsity Board from 1975 to 2000, officiated 14 state final games and is a former RI Board #84 president.

    LaBranche has an extensive officiating career as he was a CBOA varsity member for over 25 years, from 1979 through 2005. He officiated games in numerous Division I leagues including the Ivy League, America East, Patriot League, ECAC North and the Atlantic 10. LaBranche also was an official for NCAA tournament games in Division II and III play. In 1988 and 1990 he was an official for the Division II NCAA Championship game. His work provided him the opportunity to officiate in such renown areas as the Palestra, Carrier Dome and Madison Square Garden.
