PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
Hoops for the Stars is a partnership program in which the National Grid Foundation and Providence College Athletics provide inner-city students with the opportunity to earn tickets to Providence College men's and women's basketball games in return for hard work in the classroom and positive behavior in the community.
2103 marks the fifth consecutive year that the National Grid Foundation has teamed up with Providence College Athletics for this program. The program has expanded over the years thanks to additional support from the National Grid Foundation. This year, more than 5,500 tickets will be provided to inner city schools and students will have the opportunity to participate in a city wide essay contest. The winner will receive a surprise visit to their school from Head Men's Basketball Coach Ed Cooley and Head Women's Basketball Coach, Susan Robinson-Fruchtl.
