Future Providence College hockey players Mark Jankowski (St. Catherines, Ont.) and Jon Gillies (South Portland, Maine) were selected in the 2012 NHL Draft which took place on June 22-23 in Pittsburgh, Pa. Northeastern (11-14-5, 7-12-4) played to a 2-2 overtime draw Saturday

It marked the second consecutive night that the two teams skated to a

Former Friar Colin McDonald '07 made his debut with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday, January 6 against the New York Rangers. In all, he has played two games.
Prior to being called up, McDonald was playing for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. In 33 games, he had eight goals and 20 assists for 28 points. During the 2009-10

Massachusetts skated to a 4-4 overtime tie Thursday night in a Hockey
East game played at Schneider Arena. In a back-and-forth contest, the
Friars scored with 1:39 left in the third period to take a 4-3 lead, but
the Minutemen forced overtime as they scored with 37 seconds remaining.

Former Friars Mark Fayne '10 and Matt Taormina '09 each had one assist to lead the New Jersey Devils to a 5-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday, December 12. Fayne has played in all 29 games for the Devils this season and has seven points (3 g, 4 a). His three goals lead all New Jersey defensemen. Taormina, who was recently called up from the Albany Devils of the AHL, has played in two games and has one assist.

The Friars were named Hockey East Co-Team of the Week, while senior goalie Alex Beaudry (Cumberland, Ont.) was tabbed Hockey East Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, December 5. It's the second time this season that the Friars have earned the league's team of the week honors (October 17 was the other). Providence erupted for four power-play
goals in the second period (five total) en route to a 6-1 victory over
No. 1 Merrimack Saturday night in a Hockey East game played Lawler
Arena. With the victory, the Friars (8-6-1, 6-3-0) completed the
weekend sweep of the top-ranked Warriors (9-2-1, 6-2-1). In addition,
the Friars earned their first Hockey East road win since October 31,
2009. It also marked PC's first win at Lawler Arena since March 3,
2007.

Freshman Ross Mauermann scored 1:54 into overtime to lift the Providence
College men's hockey team (7-6-1, 5-3-0 HE) to a 2-1 victory over
previously unbeaten and No. 1 ranked Merrimack College (9-1-1, 6-1-1 HE)
Friday night at Schneider Arena in front of a crowd of 2,381. The
victory was the first for the Friars against a No. 1 ranked team since
January 3, 2003 (a 4-2 triumph over No. 1 Maine).
