    Friars Host UMass On Thursday Night

    After playing its final non-conference game on Sunday, Providence College will begin a stretch of 17 consecutive Hockey East games, starting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5 against the UMass Minutemen at Schneider Arena.

    Former Friars Mark Fayne '10 and Matt Taormina '09 each had one assist to lead the New Jersey Devils to a 5-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday, December 12.  Fayne has played in all 29 games for the Devils this season and has seven points (3 g, 4 a).  His three goals lead all New Jersey defensemen. Taormina, who was recently called up from the Albany Devils of the AHL, has played in two games and has one assist.

    Providence Journal Grades Friars' First Half of the Season

    Today's Providence Journal assesses the Friars through the first half of the season in which they have posted an 8-7-1 overall record and a 6-4-0 mark in Hockey East.  Providence has recorded some impressive wins, including two over previously top-ranked Merrimack.
