    The Friars will play their first road game of the new year when they face the University of Vermont at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15 at the Gutterson Fieldhouse in Burlington, Vt. It will mark the first road contest for the Friars since December 6.

    Former Friar Colin McDonald Makes Debut With Penguins

    Former Friar Colin McDonald '07 made his debut with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday, January 6 against the New York Rangers. In all, he has played two games.

    Prior to being called up, McDonald was playing for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. In 33 games, he had eight goals and 20 assists for 28 points. During the 2009-10 season, McDonald made his NHL debut with the Oilers and scored one goal. FULL STORY

    Friars And UMass Skate To 4-4 Overtime Tie

    Providence College and the University of Massachusetts skated to a 4-4 overtime tie Thursday night in a Hockey East game played at Schneider Arena. In a back-and-forth contest, the Friars scored with 1:39 left in the third period to take a 4-3 lead, but the Minutemen forced overtime as they scored with 37 seconds remaining.
