    Three Friars Inducted Into Chi Alpha Sigma

    Senior Andy Balysky, junior Kyle Murphy and sophomore Steven Shamanski were inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma at the Providence College Sixth Annual Student-Athlete Academic Achievement Ceremony.  Balysky, Murphy and Shamanski were three of 53 PC student-athletes recognized for attaining a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average or higher.  FULL RELEASE

    Ross Mauermann Named To Hockey East All-Rookie Team

    Ross Mauermann was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team.  Mauermann is the first Friar to be named to the All-Rookie Team since 2007 when defenseman Mark Fayne earned the honor.  In addition, Mauermann is the first PC forward to be named to the all-rookie team since Colin McDonald in 2004.     Friars, Mauermann Earn Hockey East Weekly Honors

    Providence College was named Hockey East Team of the Week, while freshman forward Ross Mauermann was tabbed Hockey East Rookie of the Week on Monday, March 12.  It's the fourth time this season that the Friars have earned the league's team of the week honors.  For Mauermann, it's the first time he has garnered the league's rookie of the week accolade.

    The Providence College men's hockey team defeated No. 7 UMass Lowell, 1-0, in the decisive game of a best-of-three Hockey East Quarterfinal series Sunday afternoon at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Mass. With the win, the Friars advance to the Hockey East Semifinals where they will meet Boston College on Friday, March 16 at the TD Garden in Boston, Mass. The Friars, who become the first No. 7 seed to advance to the Hockey East semifinals, will make their first Hockey East semifinal appearance since 2001. Last night, the Friars posted a 5-3 win in game one and recorded their first playoff victory since 2005.

    Providence College will play the UMass Lowell River Hawks in a best-of-three Hockey East quarterfinal series, beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 8 at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Mass.  The second game of the series is at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9 and if a third game is necessary it will be at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 11.  All games will be played at the Tsongas Center.     Providence will close out the regular-season schedule on Saturday, March 3 against No. 8 UMass Lowell at the Tsongas Center.  Despite the loss to the River Hawks last night, the Friars clinched their first Hockey East playoff berth since 2008.

    Providence will look to clinch its first Hockey East playoff spot since 2008 when it hosts No. 8 UMass Lowell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2 at Schneider Arena.  The two teams will complete the regular season the following night in Lowell, Mass.  Providence needs one win or a tie to lock up a playoff berth.  Please join us for the Senior Ceremony after the game.
